From installation to your first meeting.

Use this guide after receiving your invitation and the portable ActaThread file.

1. Verify the file

   Compare the SHA-256 checksum in your invitation with the ActaThread.exe file. Only run the file sent through the official beta channel.

2. Open the application

   The portable app requires no installer. If Windows warns that the publisher is still unknown, verify the checksum before continuing.

3. Configure OpenAI

   Open Settings, enter your API key, and save it. Transcription and answer usage is charged directly to your OpenAI account.

4. Add a test project

   Choose a folder without sensitive information for your first validation. ActaThread indexes the files locally.

5. Validate the audio

   Enable microphone and system audio. Start a short meeting and confirm that both sources respond before testing with other people.

6. Ask the validation question

   Discuss information that already exists in the project and confirm that the copilot returns a coherent answer with supporting sources.
